Kitchen Design Board

The kitchen cabinet painting is taking FOREVER.
It's taking 5 coats of paint (2 primer, 3 paint) to get really good coverage
and I'm only doing one section of cabinets at a time so my kitchen
isn't a complete disaster.  I'm hoping to be done this weekend
so it's ready for our Thanksgiving guests next week!

Here is the design board I put together for the space,
I can't wait to see it all come together.

I was hoping to complete the renovation within a $1,000 budget but
we ended up hiring out the electrical and drywall work so it was a little
more than planned, I'm still hoping to come in close to though!

Kitchen Progress

We knew when we bought our home that the kitchen was in need of an update.
The house was built in 2000, and the kitchen hadn't been updated since.
Luckily, the counters are nice white Corian and the cabinets are in
great condition, but the ivy wallpaper had to go along with the
strange cut-outs into the living area.

As you can see, ugly wallpaper and strange cut-outs

We got to work on the demo to take this wall down and make a breakfast bar.

We also spent HOURS removing the 1990's wallpaper

Here is the wall down, waiting for the electrician to come move wires

We had to install a column to hide those wires that were once in the wall,
I think it will frame out the breakfast bar nicely once the countertop is installed

And here is the view looking in to the kitchen, where the breakfast bar will be.

This is the before of the kitchen

And here is the after.
Wallpaper is gone, bead board is painted, and kitchen is updated!

I am currently painting the rest of the cabinets the same color
as the bead board (Cloud Nine by Benjamin Moore)
and we will then tile the backsplash, add cabinet hardware,
add the breakfast bar, and enjoy our updated kitchen!

Little Man's Nursery

Well it has been 3 1/2 months since we moved in,
and I'm happy with how things are going so far.

This is what Eli's room looked like when we bought the house.

This is the design board I put together for his room.

And here is his room today.

I shared the tutorial on the starry ceiling HERE in case you missed it.
It was a time consuming project but it was inexpensive and makes such a big impact.
It is definitely the focal point in the room and Eli and I both love it!

Here is his changing table, with the sweetest little print from Hellomaypole

I found this little bookshelf on Craigslist after we moved here, it was the
perfect size and went great with his other furniture and it helps to corral
his books and toys, although it never stays looking this cute!
I also framed his monogrammed romper that he wore when he was blessed
in church and I love being able to see it every day.

This little corner of his room is my favorite spot in the house.
There is nothing sweeter than snuggling a babe and having a special
spot to do it in.  I also love that he can now bring me a book to read to him

And here is my sweet, busy boy, loving his new room!

Three rooms complete, five more to go!
You can see Addyson's room here, and the kids/guest bathroom here.

I am still accepting clients for October, so email me if you're interested in
a digital design board or if you have any other design questions!

Greek Key Curtains

A few weeks ago I shared this greek key fabric that I was loving.
I decided it would be perfect for curtains in our new living room
and wouldn't break the bank. (6 yards for $45)

Here's a pic of the living room pre-curtains

And here it is with the curtains up!
Because the windows run right up to the fireplace mantle I decided
not to do curtains on both sides of the windows, I thought it would feel too
busy and not allow enough light to shine through the windows.
I like how the curtains flank the whole wall and really draw your attention in to the fireplace

I love the bold pattern, in a subtle color.
It adds the pattern and interest I was looking for but without it being too busy.
This room is slowly coming together and I can't wait to share more pictures soon!

Addyson's Room Reveal

After 3 months in our new home Addyson's room is done!
Here's what it looked like when we bought the house:

She requested a pink and purple room but I decided to classy it up a bit and go with a coral and lavender color scheme, with gold accents.
Here is the design board I put together for her room
 And here it is complete!

The headboard, side table and dresser were all found on Craigslist,
and I refinished the side table and dresser.

The coral duvet and shams are from Restoration Hardware Baby and Child
and they are lovely!
They also are a perfect match to the Caitlin Wilson Berry Fleur Chinoise fabric
which is what really tied the whole color scheme together.

The gold heart art was a little DIY I did, and it took 20 minutes to put together.
And the curtains are Serena and Lily fabric that I sewed myself.

The mirror was a Homegoods buy that I've had for months and couldn't wait to use in her room.

This is the dress that she was blessed in as a baby, and it has hung in all of her rooms

And here she is, enjoying an afternoon tea party in her new space

She loves it and tells me that almost every day

This cute little rug was also a Homegoods find and went great with the color scheme

And here is my happy little client, loving her new pink and purple room!

And here's an obligatory before and after of the space

What do you think?  Pink and purple success?

I am also currently booking online design clients for October, so
if you're interested then send me an email!
